This finishing par 5 hole ranges from 385 yards at the front
tees to 521 yards at the back tees. It offers a choice with a double fairway
from the tee shot, and an excellent chance to finish with a birdie. The hole
can even be reached in two shots making it an eagle. The fairway is
well-guarded by sand bunkers left, right, and center. The green has large
bunkers front left and right as well as behind the putting surface.
This is an aerial view of the green. This photo is from the right side of the fairway looking into the green.
In this photo you can see the double fairway quite well. The fairway on the right is closer to the tees, therefore it is less risky than the fairway on the left. The fairway on the left is a riskier play, but offers greater reward, since it makes it a shorter distance to the green. This photo is from the left side of the fairway looking down the fairway towards the green. The eighteenth hole is named the Gryphon, after the mythical creature that is half lion and half eagle. This hole has a double fairway. The safer route can be reached pretty easily by the less skilled golfer. The more advanced golfer can take the additional risk and shoot for the more distant fairway.
