Golf Swing Fundamentals

There are six fundamentals in the golf swing:

  • Grip:
    How you hold the club.
  • Posture:
How you set up to the ball. This is key to a successful golf swing. It includes:
    • Width of stance.
    • Knee flex.
    • Straightening of the back.
    • Bending from the hip socket.
    • The angle the back maintains throughout the swing.
  • Pivot:
How you move your body from your head to your toes (excluding your hands and arms).
  • The hand and arm relationship:
What the hands and arms do in the golf swing.
  • Alignment:
How you pick and set up to your target.
  • The mental side:
The ability to play without thinking about it.

There are five physical fundamentals and one mental fundamental.
