The PGA Merchandise Show, What Do You Want to See?

By: Tenna Merchent on January 17th, 2013

The 2013 PGA Merchandise Show is Next Week in Orlando Florida! As golf geeks, we can’t wait for this show every year. We get to see all the new cool:

  • Equipment, drivers, hybrids, putters, wedges
  • Golf balls
  • Men’s clothes
  • Women’s clothes
  • Children’s clothes
  • Shoes, belts, hats
  • Ball marks
  • Awards
  • Spinner vans, yes they have decked out spinner vans

You name it, if it exists at a golf course it will be at the show. There is a whole section devoted completely to brand new products. Some of them are crazy, do you really want a picture of your little girl on your driver head? But some are really cool like the Switch belts we started carrying last year.

If you have trouble with focus, this can be a challenge. It is soooo HUGE, I actually bought a backpack that has a scooter that flips down so I can make around the whole show this year. We go with definite goals of what we have to see, and what would be nice to see.

That’s where you come in, is there anything you want to see. I can take pictures, probably some video, ask questions, get prices if there is anything you want me to investigate, I have 6 days to add it to my list.

So, what do you want to see from the PGA show?

Final Installment on Bridgestone Balls

By: Tenna Merchent on May 25th, 2012

You may be beginning to wonder if we have stock in Bridgestone given all the coverage we have given them. The answer is no. We just like their products, and the technology they use for swing analysis.

In today’s blog/webcast, Clay & Scott discuss the different Bridgestone balls, and why a golfer would choose one over the other. We wrap up with some play on the few times the stumbled over their words with some outtakes. Hope you like this video!

Bridgestone Ball Fitting for a Senior Golfer

By: Tenna Merchent on May 24th, 2012

In this video we catch up with senior golfer Dick Merchent as he is fitted by Bridgestone for a proper golf ball for his swing. Tadd, the gentleman from Bridgestone, does a great job of explaining how the laser will capture his swing. Through this analysis, they are able to recommend a more appropriate ball than the one he was using, and they add an amazing 27 yards to his carry. That is without changing his swing at all, just changing his ball! It’s a no-brainer.

Dick is quite the comedian, and the bloopers at the end are worth watching. Hope you find this as educational as we did, and of course fun.

Junior Bridgestone Ball Fitting

By: Tenna Merchent on May 23rd, 2012

In this video junior golfer Clay Merchent is fitted by the Bridgestone Ball team for one of their balls. He is quite enthusiastic when it improves his carry by 20 yards. A side note that is not included in the video, he used the Bridgestone ball the following Saturday in a qualifying tournament and took first place. It’s pretty safe to say Clay is going to be a Bridgestone guy for at least a while. Hope you like our video.

Bridgestone Ball Fitting with Autumn & Scott

By: Tenna Merchent on May 18th, 2012

We were pleased to have the Bridgestone Ball Fitting team out at Purgatory Golf Club yesterday. They spent the entire afternoon, and much of the evening helping golfers test their golf swings, their current golf balls, and of course, a ball custom selected for their swing from Bridgestone. There analysis is quite scientific, and includes the speed of the golfer’s swing, impact on the club face, fade… numerous things that Scott describes in this video.

Autumn plays golf for Ball State University, and was kind enough to let us video tape her fitting session. It was quite interesting, we hope you enjoy it as much as we did, and yes, we included a few bloopers just for fun!
