Golf Themed Pumpkin

By: purgatorygolf on October 1st, 2013

Have you ever wished you could find really cool golf themed Halloween decorations? Christmas ones aren’t so hard to find, but Halloween, that’s a bit tougher.

Do you hate to see your carved pumpkins turn into mush and attract bugs as they rot?

Do you like the sound of power tools?

Then I have a project for you.

We bought an artificial pumpkin at Michael’s craft store. You can also purchase a competitor’s brand on-line at http://store.funkins.com.

I got the image I wanted up on my monitor, used masking tape to keep my paper on the screen and traced the image. I then attached the image to the artificial pumpkin with the same masking tape. I tried several thing to carve it, but the one that worked the best was a Dremel that we purchased at the local hardware store with a cutting bit.

The Dremel is a power tool that has all kinds of attachments available for purchase. If you choose to go this route, make sure the cutting bit you purchase is long enough to go through your pumpkin. I would also suggest a mask if you are going to do more than one pumpkin because the dust that get spit in the air.

It’s a little bit hard to control, and sort of an inexact tool for fine artwork, but for my purposes it was fast and efficient.
