Purgatory Loves Pinterest!

By: Tenna Merchent on July 19th, 2012

We have just set up our Pinterest page at, and if you haven’t checked Pinterest out, I suggest you give it a look. It is a Very visual experience, and with me being a photographer, well it just speaks my language. Yes it’s another place for me to share my Purgatory art with you, and the rest of the world.

This morning I spent surfing Pinterest for golf photography, golf wedding, golf outing, and golf food ideas. There are some really fun, clever, creative ideas, and I’ve started boards for them. I will keep posting, because you know, I must not have enough things to occupy my time . . . well that’s another matter all together. But hey, when I cool site like Pintrest comes along, and you can share your photography, and get way cool ideas at the same time, I’m all over it. I hope you love it as much as I do.

PS. I do have a heck of a time remembering how to spell it though, first I spelled it Pinetrest, then Pintrest, and finally a double, actually triple checked it and found the correct spelling of Pinterest. Crazy spelling, very cool site.

Ladies Night May 2012

By: Tenna Merchent on May 16th, 2012

What a fabulous evening! The amazing group of women that come out for our ladies night, well there just aren’t enough adjectives to describe them but I’ll try. They are witty, fun, bright, stylish, athletic, and on time (that’s a jab at the guys :D) to name just a few.

The guys forgot to turn off the sprinklers, which were aimed right at us as we were waiting to go off. So more than a few of us got wet. Luckily it helped us stay cool. Here are some of my very favorite group & action shots from the evening.

The winners were:

  • Net – Stutz, Meyer, Grahn & Havia
  • Gross – Shimer, Gang
  • Closest to the pin #3 – Qualkenbush
  • Closest to the pin #7 – Starks
  • Longest drive #9 – Mallory

Congratulations to all & thank you also to Michael Beckert for bringing his Nike trunk show to the club so we could all place orders for our must have golf clothes!

How to Create a Successful Golf Outing

By: Tenna Merchent on July 8th, 2011

Brian House of Tournament Promotions Midwest sits down with Blair Shadday to discuss the do’s and don’ts of a successful golf outing. Brian has a great deal of experience planning and executing golf outings. Some of our favorite tips were:

  • Start planning early, a year in advance is normal
  • Get your corporate sponsorship first
  • Recruit good board members, because they are pivotal to your success. For instance, each member should be responsible for recruiting for people who will bring a foursome to the outing.
  • Start everything on time, golf, lunch, dinner, entertainment, don’t give people a reason to leave.
  • Keep games, mulligans and such to a minimum, they slow play, and reduce the likelihood that players will stay for dinner.
